Adeline discusses with Ribbon things about her past before she had come to Pop Star. No forgotten Land Spoilers in this. Flash Fic.
Traveling between Ripple Star and Pop Star using the power of the crystal shards was the fastest way to get there, but sometimes Adeline insisted on taking one of the few space ships that were reserved for things like…well, Ribbon couldn’t think of any at the moment. The last time a ship was used was when Kirby and his friends were supposed to use it, but if they did when they did…. Sometimes Ribbon still thought about what could’ve happened. But Adeline understood that well enough.
She claimed it was for “Nostalgia’s sake” when asking to take the ship to visit Kirby.
“It’s been a while, after all! Bet he’d be real surprised to see us again!” She had petitioned before the Fairy Queen, who pretty much agreed on the spot.
The constant whirring sounds, clicks, and beeps reminded Ribbon of the factory in Shiver Star, and she shuddered to herself. So she brought up the question as the ship floated through the cosmos.
“What could possibly be so nostalgic about being stuck in such a small ship, with barely any room?”
“Hmm?” Adeline looked up from a sketchbook. “Oh. Well…”
She gave a bit of a chuckle. “I guess it’s sort of like when we were in Shiver Star?”
“Huh?” Was the only response Ribbon gave.
“It’s a bit hard to explain… oh, maybe I’ll draw it then!” Adeline flipped to another page in her sketchbook.
Adeline decided to stay to Ripple Star to learn more about the fairies and also to help with her art skills. Of course, she always returned to Pop Star from time to time, but along the way she had picked up new supplies. As the colored pencils moved around, Ribbon wondered if this drawing could potentially come to life like the others did a few times before-
“Here!” The sketchbook was turned around.
It was a drawing. To be more specific, it looked like two Adelines were in the photo, holding hands, smiling. They were surrounded by beings that looked like them in different colored uniforms, of all sorts of different heights and weights. The background looked similar to the ship they were in, surrounded by machinery and lights and buttons. The people in the drawing were also smiling.
“This was my home. For a while at least! My people traveled the star in ships like these, inventing all sorts of cool things and visiting planets! But then I got to a certain age… and decided to start exploring on my own! It’s a lot to take in, but do you get it so far?” Adeline beamed as she held up the drawing, while Ribbon examined it.
“It’s… I guess that makes sense, if you lived on something like a space ship for your childhood. But… who’s the person dressed up like you?” Ribbon wondered aloud.
“Oh! That’s my brother, Ado!”
“Your… brother?”
“Yeah! We’re twins.” She nodded, but then looked down. “I haven’t heard from him though. There’s not really a good way to contact other people in space… well, wherever he is, I hope he’s happy.”
Ribbon looked out the ship. The vast amount of stars in the galaxy looked back. Somewhere out there, she thought, were travelers that looked just like Adeline, who lived in ships and factories like shiver star, and invented all sorts of things that could change planets. Maybe even things like the clockwork stars, or the crystal shard she carried around in her very hand could’ve been something invented by them. She looked back to Adeline, who continued making sketches.
Maybe not, she decided then and there.
Adeline looked from her sketchbook and pointed. “Hey, I think I saw Pop Star! We’re almost there, Ribbon!”
“Let’s make sure Kirby has a good time when we get there!”
“Yes, we should.”
Some things were better off being unasked.

Me deciding: alright, should I publish the original story or XIV story
This concept: comes out of nowhere
Me: What the
Headcanon zone: the reason adeline was just, never seen again after 64 was because she was just living on ripple star—I don’t know if the star allies bio contradicts this but im too lazy to pull up my switch to find out lol
Also I still headcanon ado and adeline as siblings as a holdover from another Kirby fic I’ve read somewhere
Me also deciding now’s the best time to spread my “ancients are human” headcanon before it gets contradicted by the next game
Possibly a prologue to my long form Kirby story. .
