Proof of concept for writing out episodes. Reuploaded from tumblr. Featured some music tracks that can't be put here lest the format be screwed up so I'll just put them down as a playlist.
  • MMBN5: In the Room
  • MM8: Clown Man Theme
  • Darkseed 2, Carnival
  • MM8 Boss Intro Plus Boss Fight

An episode of sorts? I guess this would take place during the 1 scenario due to how mundane it is.

Weather: Sunny. Make sure to have sunscreen!

After the school lunch prank incident…

My friends and I found ourselves going out to the amusement park near SeaCity’s port on the weekend. Or in this case, a boardwalk.

It would be nice to say that I went willingly, but in the case below, I really didn’t.

Music playing (consider this as a cutscene):

Alan was the first to speak up after being dragged out of the library. “Mrs. Uriel, I didn’t finish my work. But Chelsea brought me out here to go sightseeing… tell me, should I go back?”

I don’t know why he was even bothering to tell me, Chelsea dragged him out, then went to my house and grabbed me too!

“Why are you asking me? Tell Chelsea directly!” Alan shook his head but I couldn’t tell if it was because he didn’t want to do it or to get the sweat off him.

“I can’t! She’s too strong!” And considering the fact that she got us both on the bus without either of us managing to get an edge in to where we were going is quite the feat in itself. I honestly just wanted to see where she was going with this, so I kept quiet.

It seems like my wish would come true, because Chelsea pulled out her PET and asked me to take out mine too, probably so our Navis could communicate. Well, if that was the case, I spoke up before she did.

“Hey, Quint, what’s the cheapest thing we can do here?” I asked. There wasn’t really much in mind, but if there was food and some games, I didn’t really mind footing the bill.

Wait, what am I even saying? I barely know these two! If anyone’s paying, it better be rich boy over there.

Quint barely looked over from his interface where he somehow managed to get a fan on his hub space and a fridge to cool off. I was honestly jealous, even the Prog we had found was eating an ice pop— or the net equivalent to one.

“Hmm… well, wouldn’t it be best to ask someone who’s been here before? Aero, do you know?”

“Nope!” She cheerfully replied. “I could look it up, but that’s less fun!”

“Uh, thats great. Fan, do you know?”

Fan shook his head.

“Some navigators you guys are.”

But Quint didn’t know anything either. Was an unspoken thought…

“Anyways, Chelsea. Mind explaining why you took us all out here?” I went to ask before we could start questioning if Navis like ours really needed GPS functions if they weren’t gonna use them.

“Isn’t it obvious? It’s the tail end of summer, and we spent it all last week stuck in school and then had to worry about an out of control AutoNavi screwing stuff up! I say we take a nice break and hang out in a worry free spot!”

Considering that Quint was the one to delete the AutoNavi, and Chelsea was knocked out, I couldn’t really argue with that kind of logic. But Alan pointed something else out.

“In a place full of net stuff?”

And Chelsea was quick to the draw. “We’re always surrounded by the net, but I wanted to catch some real waves, not just internet ones!”

But Alan delivered the killing blow resolutely.

“…None of us have bikinis or trunks.”

“Gah! You’re totally right! I forgot!” She smacked herself on the forehead. I think if this was any less serious, Alan would’ve and… he’s down. Sitting down. Too bad Chelsea’s faster at coming up with a new solution.

“Oh well. Let’s go check out a different spot then, in land!” And before either of us could object to this one, she started pushing.

“Come on, come on!”

Gahhh! Okay, okay, we’ll walk!

Scene transition

Music change

The amusement park was a part of the old SeaCity before they revamped anything, and that was because they either didn’t have the budget to give everything a net makeover, or just didn’t feel like it. It’s certainly… a look.

The main attraction wasn’t the rides or anything, but to me, the maze. Thankfully it was a relatively short line.

“Hey, there’s a haunted maze entrance!” Chelsea made a bit of a stifled sound, but I didn’t really notice.

I looked further over, and saw a familiar mop of brown hair.

“Oh, I think I see my brother over there! Hey, Tatsumi!” I wave him down and run towards him. I should’ve skated there, but I didn’t want to leave the other two behind.

It looks like he’s with his friends too. Huh, really. It’s only been a few weeks and he’s already got some friends here! Lucky. It’s an interesting mix of girls and boys. But before we get any further, the boys have already started moving on ahead. Guess I’ll get them next time.

“Hey, hey!” He finally turns around and notices me from his conversation. With him are two girls, both with long hair. One’s a blonde wearing a blue dress and smiling, but the other has brown hair and is frowning the entire time. She honestly looks bored. Tatsumi comes down to ruffle my hair.

“Oh, it’s my little sister. Alright, cool! This is Tabitha, that’s Kalinka. Kalinka, Tabitha. Oh, then there’s Tempo.”

“Hello!” Kalinka reaches out to shake my hand. “Tatsumi took us out to the amusement park! We’ve been having a bit of fun here.”

“Hi.” Tempo doesn’t say anything else.

“We’re gonna go check out the haunted maze, wanna come with?”

“Yeah, sure! The more, the merrier! How bout it?”

“Ha-haunted? Erm, Alan, you go! I wanna check out the games.”

“No way! I’d never go in there!” And then Alan went behind Chelsea. Tatsumi laughed at this a bit. It was a funny scene, with one trying to be brave and the other blatantly no selling it.

“Ah… the other guys were here too, but they said they wanted to do it themselves as a dare. Guess they didn’t want anyone to see them shout, huh!”

“Well, if we’re ever in any real danger, I can do hand to hand combat!” And to demonstrate, Kalinka gave a really half hearted kick and a few punches. Everyone looked a bit surprised.

That’s… nice. I guess. But we’re at an amusement park, what’s the worst that could happen?

Music change

The haunted maze was cramped. We all had to walk in a single file line at the beginning and make our way through a hall of mirrors. I think I saw Chelsea open up her PET and talk to Aero the entire time. Is that cheating?

Alan pretty much had to be dragged through though. He bumped his head on one of the mirrors and then tried running back out to the entrance.

It really was a lot creepier than I thought it would be. After the mirror hall was some sort of spinning circle thing with a giant clown on it, but getting dizzy was the last thing I wanted to do. There were way too many stairs and we had to keep going up and down before finding some sort of cryptic hint.

Readers, ware, the thunder hand! And I’m still not sure what that was supposed to mean.

By the time we found what looked like an exit, I think everyone was exhausted. Chelsea and Alan both were on the verge of… I want to say crying, but both were egging the other on with teasing to try and alleviate the mood. Tempo said nothing the entire time we were there and Kalinka and Tatsumi were too busy talking to each other, I dont even think they realized it was a haunted maze and not a love maze. It was ridiculous.

So. Exit!

“Freedom!” Alan ran towards the door, only to shriek like a banshee when the lights went off.

“I can’t take this anymore!” And then both Chelsea and him took off and bumped into me and presumably the others.

“Hey, guys, wait!” I think it’s too late, big bro. They’re gone.

“Think a light blew somewhere.” Kalinka turned on… a flashlight? Not even a PET?

“What? I know it’s strange but it’s useful.” I guess she saw my face in the dark.

“There’s something coming.” A hand was pointed at as a slow creaking noise came towards us.

As we all looked in that direction with the flashlight on, we see what appears to be an amusement bot. We could ask it for help, cool!

“Target found!” Wait, what? “Eliminate!”

So then we start running backwards, past the spinning wheels and through the stairs and in the mirror maze, only to end up with more robots chasing us all with the same droning message. Tatsumi managed to ply off some wood and bar the door, but it was only a matter of time before that was broken down.

“Shoot! The entrance is locked!”

We’re really stuck in here with a bunch of robots looking for something?! I’m not getting stuck here in this situation!

I note a glowing light above us in the mirror maze. It’s small, but it’s a net terminal!

“No way! Quint, log in to the net and see what’s going on!” I point my PET towards the ceiling and the wireless transmission goes clean through.

“Alright, I’ll do the same thing! StarMan, transmission!” Tatsumi’s PET shoots out as well. And then a third light joins us.

“QuakeWoman. Plug in.” I’ve heard of being cool and collected even in danger, but Tempo hasn’t broken a sweat!

…no other light joined us. I’m not sure where the others went in all the confusion, since there were multiple entrances and exits. They either all got out successfully, or… I don’t want to think of any other scenario.

Music Change

On the net is another situation entirely as some sort of long armed clown jumps around. Quint was joined by QuakeWoman and StarMan, but surprisingly, also Fan and Aero. The entire area was littered with the data of scattered viruses, but Fan and Aero were trying to avoid the clown.

“That is one of the strangest viruses I’ve ever seen.” Quint adjusted his sunglasses as the clown proceeded to wipe his nose.

“I’m no virus, I’m clown man!”

“Aaagh! What the heck is that Navi?! I can’t beat him at all!” So that’s how those two ended up in their state.

“You guys are just a bunch of wimps! I’ll take you all on!” And before we could do anything, Clown Man lunged at our Navis.

Music Change

“Quint, watch out! None of our normal attacks hit it!” Aero shouted as Clown Man was thrown off by Quint and his blaster dissipated through him.

“That’s not a Navi anymore! That’s just ghost data!” QuakeWoman managed to shout out as a ton of electrical balls were seen on our screens. “Tempo! I need something that can get rid of a ghost!”

“I’m no ghost! I’m a clown!” But no one was listening.

“Got it. Holy Panel, Slot in.” The terrain changed to Holy as ClownMan hopped up onto a Data Ball to avoid it. “It’s no good.” And to make matters worse, more viruses are appearing!

Shoot, shoot, I dont have holy, what’s electric weak to again, I should’ve paid more attention in class!

“Tatsumi! I can see it! This ghost’s misfortune is Wood related!” Oh, nice, StarMan remembered!

I try looking through my folder but this is such a specific scenario, why would anyone have wood chips on them unless they had a wood Navi?!

“AntiWood, slot in! StarMan, boost it with sun power!” Well, I stand corrected.

We’d best hurry, because I’m pretty sure I heard the wood break. “Quint, shoot at the ball! It’s the only way he’ll land to get hit by our attacks!” I direct him to focus on that instead of the viruses.

“I got it!” And the ball explodes with a satisfying “pop” sound.

As clownman tumbles through the air, the antiwood attack activates. The door is completely busted as Tatsumi yells “you’re finished!”

To which ClownMan only grins and responds,

“See ya!”

The PET reads [VIRUS DELETED] as the lights turn back on. I let out a sigh of relief.

When Tatsumi plied the wood off, there was nothing but a pile of shut down robots at the door’s entrance.

He muttered something. “That wasn’t one of those maverick cases… that was… just plain creepy.”

Maverick? What’s that?

“Ah, shoot! Forget I said anything, okay?” I said that last part out loud?

And before I could ask any further, Tatsumi ran in the direction of the robots further into the maze.

When I turned around, somehow Tempo was gone too?!

Ah, great! They left me alone in here!

Author’s notes:

I’m not sure what I’d call this…? I kinda just wrote it out to familiarize myself more with the stuff I came up with. Also, I’m ignoring the boss list entirely. The school lunch incident would probably be the first episode or second, but I haven’t written it. In game terms, to switch things up, the human characters would be the ones solving stuff in the maze instead of having to go through a dungeon like with the hypothetical lunch scenario. …also, fight scenes. You know what, maybe if I ever revisit this I will make that one next.
