Monthly Check in 1 (End of November)
Monthly check in! I’m still watching transformers stuff. My Megaman idea is still there but I’m making it OC based on the dos games.
In terms of neocities, I’m doing a monthly maintenance thing where more or less I had the great idea (sarcasm) to make a splash page meaning I have to reupdate the entire site again. Terrible idea, I have to revise everything again.
So much to do, so little time. I wanna finish that up and then not worry about the site again! I was supposed to be done in September...
Putting up the splash page was my neglecting habit that didn’t happen until off screen maintenance time now where a few things got moved around for full coverage of ideas and projects. The thing is I think neocities is a wonderful place, wonderful sites, But if I ever want to cover something that isn’t fully appropriate for a general audience like with shows I watch that are TV-14 or above I’d cover it here and the back and forth linkage is what I’m worried about. I feel like simultaneously I say too much and too little. Awkward. I have to crawl through every page to make sure the index is linked properly.
Honestly, probably after this year the personal sites not getting anything minus blog and media posts because like, I really need to go all into getting a job full time and back to drawing and writing. If I had the ability to lock in as well as I do with my personal projects, I'd probably be a well adjusted member of society already.
I also need to think about getting a normal sleep schedule again too… ah, so many problems. I said I’d be finished in summer, look, it’s December now.
Still working on my pokemon fics. I’m trying to put more whimsy into them instead of just having sad humans being sad like what happened with Roche and Robin, oh yeah, after an entire fic of them not being named I gave them names.
I gotta wonder how much of me being annoying in regards to my internal rules as to how I’d like to write my pokemon fics came hot off of me coming out of FF14 as my fanfic related fandom which was pretty much a place of “you can’t break the rules because we have lore books” versus the impeccable lore book bending warrior of light who basically exists to break every single rule established and make RP-ing a nightmare because you have to either write around them or just be them and the issue with making solely OC content with me and FF14 is that this anomalous designated main character could probably solve any problem I made for my OCs within an entire raid series or something.
Been looking into solo roleplaying. Sometimes I really do just have ideas bouncing off because I want to write, I just don’t know How to anymore since my focus won’t let me.
Mildly amused yet also fuming because Athena and Pandora were both names for various OC ancients I already had in mind (Lily and Rin) and now there they are! In ff14 proper!! Ahaha.
Being an adult who's into media franchises that are centered towards everyone means that a lot of times when
I want to talk about themes and analysis my only options are either an 18+ server or a server for everyone and both options are mixed. I really wish the internet wasn't just 5 different websites. FF14 wasn't really like that though since most of the fanbase it gathered were people who could pay for the subscription, but there certainly were a lot of things going on... the mod billboard comes to mind.
I kinda abandoned my cast for a long time period past dawntrail but considering what I knew versus how far I was in the game, I’m probably better off just making them into full fledged OCs at that rate. I did have some pretty unhinged ideas I was cooking during my gameplay era to post arr era where I was like “well, if I want to write around MSQ I need to have a supporting cast” so I ended up with like pirates and bandits and that one guy in gridania that is just a body being piloted by an elemental and it just sucks. I needed a WOL stand in but it was meteor and then I gave him a sister.
It was pretty fun writing it by myself! However, I think I spent years generating ideas more than executing them.
So maybe I’ll put it on the afterburner and have OC towns and OC places but at that point if it’s alll original can you really consider it as fanfiction of something if it’s that divorced?
Hmm.🤨 That’s the dilemma.
Also, new icons. Transformers, of course.
The art style gaps between various canons and cartoons is insane like this franchise has been in everything. It's so old! But that's fun, because that means there's so much I can look at and learn about. Minus drawing them, I've been trying. It's very hard.
I really do hope I manage to get something done before the years end though aside from my website. I can't just be all talk and no fic.
