At the end of it all, Bella lives a quiet life.
For my Pokémon Korosu clear.
It was admittedly a risky move, living in the same town where the nightmare had begun. But at the same time, the last place anyone would look for the killer of the dreaded Outlaw was in a house next to the slums that he once lived in. Truth be told, Bella didn’t want to live there either. But Daisy was lonely, so she stayed.
There was a double take in the mirror once. The hair that was pulled upon, yanked, stomped, and burned. It was the first thing that she had ruined by others. Sometimes, there was a sense of confusion. That person in the mirror was really her, and she really was free from the sevii islands and that wretched family.
“I think you need a haircut.” Daisy had told her once when she was staring too long.
And for as long as she remembered, her hair had looked like. It had looked like.
That face and hair… it’s just like hers! His voice always wailed and distorted and played like a bad VHS tape over and over and over-
The next day after that same nightmare, she willingly let Daisy cut it. Her hands went through softly as wisps fell to the ground.
There were four things Bella knew as truth when she began her campaign.
Bella had only known her parents until they died-
Bella only knew the man that tried to-
Everyone she had ever met and fought with for a better future were -
The only one left to tell the story is the one who survives.
“I think the thing I knew most was death. By me and the Pokémon, I mean. Gastly might’ve done the first, but the rest were by my commands and my hands.”
I grow sick of it all. I need to find a reason to keep going. All these battles are the same. All I taste is bile.
I’m on top of the world but I’ve never felt so low.
A pause. Daisy had set the tea plate down.
“After my brother and grandfather were killed, there was nothing to bury. The outlaw burned the bodies of those he killed in those days.”
“I didn’t burn him.”
“You should’ve.”
The TV had always showed increasingly violent showings of Pokémon battles, riots, battlefields whenever it was live. Daisy had learned that the best way to retreat was to watch videos of the past.
A Pokémon coordinator and a Pokémon using assassin.
Is your clefairy still-
“I’m afraid it passed.”
How do you want to get tea?
“Ah. I’ve been growing the leaves myself, actually.”
Why were you never attacked?
“They didn’t have a need to, you see. I think for years I just stayed in the home and withered away like my flowers.”
What changed?
“Well. I saw the news live, once.”
“I think it was about the sevii islands. You were there.”
Just like people, Pokemon are living things. But I think somewhere along the way the outlaw stopped seeing anything as living.
“And what about you?”
I think.
And it was quiet for such a long time, wasn’t it. It was a lot easier to think when you weren’t constantly having people scream for vengeance, for horrible crimes against everything, for a man who broke on the way to his throne and a teenager who just wanted a simple life-
“I think I’d like to try living for once.” And that would be enough.
I like to find value in all sorts of things, even if they’re off the wall Pokemon rom hacks where it turns out I didn’t play the series in order so I don’t know if the thing I say are canon or not. This means at some point I need to write a fic for Pokemon Outlaw if that's the first one, but it's also funny to play them backwards.
That feeling when your main antagonist may be dead but he’s still haunting the narrative because he was also a part of the cycle of violence and then inflicted it onto others because of what they went through
Also, total tone killer, but here’s what Bella looked like. In the story it's mentioned she looks like Leaf/ Her sprite is just an edit of Leaf's without the hat so I made the piccrew look like that.
I still think about the fact that at the end of the gauntlet on the Sevii islands where the MC is taking down the Salon family that at the end of it Lance says "good job!" hands the player a soda pop, and then immediately requests that they go through Kanto to kill the outlaw. Tonal ride doesn't even begin to describe it.
