Stuff I posted from the ask blog that were from long running fics that never really got anywhere aside from the notes phase.
“Say, do you remember how we met?”
Rene and Beet were both on patrol in the forest outskirts when she spoke up. He was glad that she spoke first, but asking a question like that… he had to pause for a bit and think about it.
“You’ll have to remind me… weren’t you the one who came to me in the Roost while I was on break and said you were looking forward to working with me?” That sounded about right, but Beet shook her head.
“It was before even that. During the Calamity… you forgot? I was buried under something. You were the only one who came and got me out and brought me water before moving onto finding other people. Well, you were still an adventurer then but… you really forgot?”
Now it was his turn to shake his head. Well, he did that and he shrugged. It was a long time ago, he thought to himself, and there were a lot of people I didn’t get to help out. I didn’t think about it much afterwards.
“No, I didn’t. You just looked completely different then. We’ve really known each other that long?”
“I would’ve said we were strangers then, but now we’re friends!”
“Friends. I like the sound of that. Well, nice to meet you again, Beet.”

“Look, I’m not worried about him, because I’m not.“
She didn’t believe him for a minute, and it must’ve shown on her face, because he continued scowling.
“But I am saying, is that Lily could pick him up and play him like an instrument. She wouldn’t even be that tired.”
“So you are worried about Pepper!”
“ I just said I was worried about the competition. You’re thinking too hard. Him and I are not friends.”
