It's at this point I really stopped caring about the spacing transfer from tumblr on my docs.
26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?
When Beet’s happy about something, she tends to want to spread that happiness to others so she’ll be extra nice and go out of her way to compliment people or be extra helpful.
Pen gets super bashful when people catch him smiling or being happy, so he tends to cover up his face, which only brings more attention to him.
Lily has an extreme poker face. When she’s happy she only smiles a bit more.
Bon also has the same poker face problem, but at the very least he’ll tell people that he’s currently happy. Even if his face doesn’t show it.
Pepper might go ahead and dance, much to everyone’s chagrin. He’s not good at it.
He happened to pick up that habit from M’ari.
I basically headcanon that seeker of the sun and keeper of the moon miqo’te have different body language dependent on their tails, so when Sage’s tail is wagging it means she’s actually and not mad. Doesn’t make people not confused though.
Rene hums a bit when he’s happy, but if he’s asked he’ll say No to whoever asks.
7. If your muse could open any kind of store, what would it be?
·
You know, I’ve actually got a pretty lengthy answer to this one because my original vision for the part timers was for them to open up a store. In particular, the idea as that Sage would open up a restaurant and everyone else along in the part timers would basically have their own unique traits in order to help her out with said restaurant. The idea didn’t really go according to my writing and the only real remnant of it is that Sage is sort of… a bad cook now?
As for everyone else, it sort of varies. Lily would likely run a bookstore, Beet technically already does market work by selling her alchemist potions, Pepper would run one of those secondhand shops for weird stuff he comes across in his adventures, Bon and Pen would join Pepper at his shop, M'ari basically also has Sage’s idea of running a resturaunt, and Rene wants nothing to do with customer service ever again.
Give them a warm drink of your choice, what would it be? Would their choice differ from yours?
·
There are two divisions of warm drinks I like to drink, which are tea (of really any flavor) and hot chocolate.
The two most likely to drink tea would be Rene and Beet, but on totally different ends of tea types. Rene would be drinking tea that’s more black, but if he’s feeling homesick he might attempt to make it with a different type of milk. Beet drinks tea but more on the bitter side (Green tea in particular), so she usually eats it with something sweet.
Hot chocolate enjoyers would be Sage, Pepper, M'ari, Pen, and Bon. Some like eating there’s with marshmallows and others with whipped cream, but I usually just drink my hot chocolate plain. (Unless I feel like self indulging in which case I get the whipped cream and marshmallows.)
The only warm drink I don’t really prefer to drink is coffee, which would probably be drank by Lily, because she’s the type of academic that drinks it by routine (i.e, can’t live without it to focus on classes).
May I ask the part timers:
What is their safe place? And what does “safe place” mean to them?
·
If I had to choose a safe place in mind for the part timers, then it would likely be Rene’s house* he got from being a lieutenant in the Twin Adders which he basically proceeded to never use since he just stays in an inn room in the Roost. It’s basically a place where they end up gathering and sleeping in whenever they’re not all on adventures/work separately or together and they’ll discuss all sorts of stories of how their days went. So in a way, even though the house is where they all gather, the safe place is actually each other because they can confide in nearly everything*.
*unless they’re fighting. Some of them don’t get along with others sometimes. (Sage and Rene in particular come to mind.)
**I don’t have a house in game. If I had to imagine it though there was probably nothing in the house to begin with aside from a bed and a few shelves and everyone sort of started bringing in their own furniture to decorate the place, even if it probably all looks like a mess because everybody ends up bringing furniture from all over the place.***
***By all over, I mean all over. Beet in particular has a bunch of palace of the dead furniture that was basically forbidden to be in the house and Rene keeps dumping his carpenter furniture leftover from commissions, M'ari keeps bringing in fish because he keeps seeing the aquarium museum and preventing people from buying his caught fish because he wants to start his own, and Lily keeps crafting everything because she wants to study. There haven’t been any noise complaints yet but that’s because the house itself is further from the other adventurer owned houses.
29. They have a chance to get a tattoo: what would it be?
· Sage probably wouldn’t get a tattoo, but if she did it would likely be a pattern or something that would represent one of her storytale heroes. Same with Rene, but if he did it would be like a Chocobo chick or something.
Pepper would get one of something cool, which would likely end up being one of the voidsent used for the Saint’s wake. M’ari would likely follow what Pepper does so he’s also end up with a “cool” tattoo.
The only tattoo Lily wants is her Archon mark.
Beet would likely get one of a Nymeia Lily or a flower bouquet of sorts.
Pen and Bon both refuse to get tattoos for undisclosed reasons. (They’re afraid that getting one will hurt.)
28. What would they do if their favourite pet suddenly fell asleep on their lap?
·
Everyone would unanimously let the pet stay on their lap until their legs get tired.
speaking of pets, I don’t think I ever went over which pets everyone tend to have around them (as minions.)
M’ari has the Wolf Pup and Beet has the Couerl Kitten, so both usually keep them away from each other so they don’t fight. Bon has the nutkin from a Starlight event a while ago, so people end up shocked a bit when he talks to it and it responds back.
Rene has the wayward hatchling alongside some other animals like the tiny rat and behemoth heir. Lily usually has a gobbue around but lately has taken a shine to the dodo and the dust bunny.
Pepper has his Ahriman which also doubles as his mount, Pen weirdly enough has a Chigoe Larva. Beet has an owlet which stays up with her when she’s working at night.
Has your character made any resolutions for the upcoming year? Are they the kind they're likely to keep or are they simply there for the sake of keeping up appearances? If they don't adhere to New Year's Resolutions, is there anything they do to help herald in a new year?
· New Year’s Resolutions are a bit of a touchy subject for the Part Timers individually.
Mostly because in previous years, everyone would say they have a goal to keep up which they either would ignore or completely forget about as the year continues.
Well, maybe this time everyone will be able to hold the other accountable when they see each other!
As for resolutions…
Bon doesn’t have one and when asked he’ll say he’ll have it figured out later. He never does.
Lily says that she’ll read more books.
Sage wants to double her quota of work and get more commissions.
Beet’s resolution is to continue being kind and helping more people in whatever way she is capable of.
M’ari is planning to get in more exercise and calling his kids more often, once he figures out how his new Linkpearl works (he got it for Starlight.)
Rene is going to take up journaling.
Pen is working harder to be a better knight!
Pepper also has no resolutions, unless “be more annoying” counts.
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
· I’ll go from most formal to least formal education.
As for most formal, it’s definitely Lily since she’s a sharlayan scholar. She technically hasn’t finished since she still needs to finish her archon thesis, which she wanted to make focused on Aether, but it’s become a Sisyphean task where MSQ revelations cause her to have to keep adding addendums. Her favorite class was the one on Arcanamia, but she disliked Geometry.
Rene comes second closest considering that he managed to get into the Scholasticate based on a recommendation by someone else for choir skills, but he was nearly thrown out because of multiple altercations between highborn. His favorite subject? Astrology. His least? Music.
Beet had a private tutor at some point that taught her the basics of alchemy and economics, but for the most part she’s self taught. She tends to like everything aside from dealing with medical information since she hates the sight of blood.
Pen was taught by his mother, who lived mostly a lifestyle of wandering places trying to scam people. He learned to quickly hate everything regarding politics and how to teach himself quickly, but still not enough to prevent himself from getting scammed.
On a technical level, Dusk would probably be higher, but there’s a difference between learning information in a school versus being born with most of the information already in your mind. That being said, his least favorite is history since there’s a lot of large gaps in it, and his favorite is art because he gets to create something in his own control.
Pepper and Sage managed to get a fairly decent education even if it was mostly taught by the Arcanist’s guild whenever M’ari would drop them off to be watched by the former guild master before he started wandering off. And bringing the kids. Oops. Sage’s good at literature since she loves reading about heroes and is absolutely awful at Arcanamia like M’ari, which is why her first carbuncles summoned were incredibly bad. Pepper’s favorite subjects were that on magic and he detested the ones where he had to do actual combat like in the Maruader’s guild.
M’ari had zero school education in any form since he was pretty much born into the pirate life. It’s a miracle that the twins had any form of education even if it was from questionable sources.
42. If invited to a TED Talk, what topics would the part-timers present on? What would the titles of their presentations be?
·
Beet would probably hold a presentation regarding environmental practices? She’s interested in preserving endangered species. Her title? How to save our environment… (I should come up with a better title.)
Bon would definitely run a presentation on the ethics of cloning and how they should be treated as individuals rather than copies of other people.
Rene likely wouldn’t come up with a topic so his contribution would likely be with Pen who would just excitedly talk about a bunch of historical anecdotes and how he wants to be an archeologist.
M’ari, contrary to most things, wouldn’t just talk about fish but rather about his experience to becoming a marine biologist, piggybacking off of what Beet was talking about (and yet. It’s still about fish.)
Lily would love to run a presentation regarding the things that let the world exist (aetherology) and her dissertation on it (like her degree) but chances are it would be easily outdated due to updates from different fields she didn’t check into beforehand.
Sage and Pepper would definitely have some sort of joint talk where they speak about their experiences with motivation and procrastination in order to have a good working schedule.
As a group: The managerial process of their respective works (why we need a raise for our jobs)
☑: something my muse has accomplished that they’re proud of
·
Managing to summon his Ahriman to be a mount without something blowing up in the background—Pepper
Started growing a lovely garden for the house— Beet
Once received a commission for a ton of wind up mammets and finished them within a fortnight!- Sage (Make no note to her that none of the mammets sold well.)
Fought off a band of thieves and rescued someone!- Pen (Note: he never realized that the person he saved was leading the thieves.)
Winning the cactpot! - Rene (He hasn’t done this yet.)
Managed to sold a single paper crane that didn’t unfold, that’s a win!- Bon. (He wants to get to one thousand since Beet told him he could make a wish like that.)
Catching the legendary big one- M’ari, in a tale of otherwise normal fishing proportions (Not the Namazu one.)
Publishing my thesis- Lily (She hasn’t finished this either.)
Surprisingly… they haven’t gotten much done for the goals they’ve wanted to achieve yet.
15. What’s the most obvious difference between their behavior at home, at work, at school, with friends, and when they’re alone?
· (I made this one a bit longer than I expected so I’m putting it under a read more.)
At home:
In her old home, Beet has a tendency to sing to herself. She still does it a bit now, but gets embarrassed when people catch her.
Rene’s definitely less productive when he gets to his house, where he basically goes and crashes onto a couch immediately.
Pepper would be less exaggerated when he comes to his house. Probably even take off his magician’s hat. How uncharacteristic of him.
At school:
There were some who didn’t get any school education so I’ll just focus on the one’s who did.
Lily used to be more shy when she was in university but has more confidence to try speaking with her friends.
Rene used to be a bit of a delinquent in his time at the Scholasticate! Since graduating though, he’s become far more mellowed out.
Beet was quieter with her private tutor. She had learned that speaking up was not the best idea.
Bon’s been taking lessons from books and listening to people despite having memories and knowledge of Allagan education. He wants to learn more applicable skills versus already knowing everything. He goes into it all very enthusiastically.
At work:
Rene’s job as a Twin Adder has him dealing with patrols, his squadron, negotiating with poachers (because he refuses to harm them unless they attack first), dealing with levequests as well, all while he does so in a very… let’s say, customer service sort of way. Beneath a cheery exterior of working is someone who would rather be doing anything else, but maybe if he pretends long enough he can actually enjoy his job.
Beet and Bon sometimes work alongside Rene sometimes in the Twin Adders (obviously lower ranking) and also sometimes attempt to use Rene as an excuse to get out of handling paperwork put onto them (they could be patrolling, or fighting something, or anything but paperwork) but Rene refuses because he doesn’t want to do the paperwork either.
The only other two that have significant Grand Company status are M’ari (because he was an old associate of pirates that reformed faster than others) and Pen (but no one believes he has a high rank.) M’ari only works on fishing though with his coworkers who he enthusiastically talks to, but they ignore him. Pen ends up rambling to anyone who listens to him in the goldsmith’s guild.
Pepper’s job as a hired mercenary has him in a position where he jokes, lazes around, and basically doesn’t seem to take anything seriously which frustrates his clients but he produces results.
Sage is more talkative when working with her commissioners for her armory work because she likes hearing responses back and doesn’t enjoy simply hearing the sound of the hammer hitting metal. Some people don’t say anything at all, so it ends up creating a bit of an awkward feeling.
With friends (that aren’t part timers):
I’d say for the most part their friends are mostly work colleagues or sometimes adventurers. Beet definitely acts more enthusiastic around her friends to make sure that they don’t think anything is wrong. Rene gets a lot more loose lipped and sarcastic with his non work cohorts (who just happen to be his old adventurer group). Anyone else I can think of….? The rest kind of don’t have as many friends (I.e I haven’t made them all up yet. )
38. How energetic is your oc? Do they have trouble sitting still or do they feel low on juice all the time? Any reason why?
·
This is the OOC part where I admit most of my writing scenarios regarding the part timers ends up with things becoming slightly chaotic because they tend to carry an energy about them in different ways and they all bounce off each other dynamically.
Sage and Pepper both are on opposite ends. Sage is peppy and always energetic to be doing almost anything new, where as Pepper is practically sleeping through most things unless he’s externally motivated by something like money.
Pen’s energy regarding his life as a knight is infectious to the point it gets other people to also follow him around (even if most of what he does in a “knightly way” is based on a fairy tale book rather than any real knightly code.)
Beet has a lot of energy when it comes to making up her weird hypothetical scenarios that have no basis in reality. (Like some people compare apples to oranges… she’d compare apples to flying chocobos.)
Rene technically is here, even though most of the time he has a low almost lackadaisical energy regarding his life outside of his job, because he goes through a complete transformation whenever he enters the Gold Saucer from seriousness to silly guy. No one outside of the part timers knows about this yet and he’s going to keep it that way because he might simply expire out of embarrassment.
As for the less energetic ones,
Lily tends not to talk or use much of her energy unless it’s something that’s in regards to her studies or honing her crafts. She wants to make sure her energy is always used towards useful endeavors. Due to meeting and hanging out more often, she’s been using more of her energy towards getting hobbies in crafts.
Bon and M'ari share almost the same outlook on life where they stay calm and go with the flow, though M'ari is because he’s more experienced and Bon is because he likes observing and not getting himself involved with many things.
7. Does your oc have any allergies, intolerances, or other sensitivities? How dangerous is it? Does this affect their daily life in any way?
·
For the most part, there’s a few sensitivities some have, but not enough to be a large danger.
For example, Sage and Pepper both get seasonal allergies, so they have a tendency to avoid places where they know there will be a lot of pollen for them. (If they were ever in a WOL centric story (which I still need to write), Il Mheg would cause them to flare up the entire time.) Pen has a low tolerance for bland food, so he carries around a thing of seasoning. Lily has never tried many foods outside of Sharlayan, so she has to deal with basically getting almost spicy food everytime she goes to eat something (She gets better). Rene gets seasick, so he tries to avoid boat rides. I can’t think of anything for M'ari, Beet, or Bon (But the last is because Bon is sort of like, immune to most problems he comes across.)
4. What sound soothes your muse the most?
Probably minor sounds that could be heard from day to day. Like, for example, Rene probably likes listening to bards playing their music whenever he comes across them, Beet likes listening to birdsong, Lily likes the sound of silence that comes from being studious. Pen likes the sound of a crackling fireplace. Sage and Pepper enjoy the sound of the ocean. Bon enjoys listening to the sound of rustling leaves in the breeze. M'ari also enjoys the sound of the ocean.
You know, things like that.
5. How many blankets does your muse sleep with?
· The answer isn’t really as ranged… I think Pen sleeps with a single blanket but to make up for it he layers while everyone else he knows is a blanket hog. (Pepper and Rene especially have a bad habit of hoarding blankets even in the summer.)
8♥️ - How well do your muses perform in social situations?
I’m going to say it depends on what kind of social situation. One to one conversations are likely fine, but something like a loud group conversation or parties…? It’s going to get awkward, and fast.
Some of their social batteries are definitely higher than others but even those start to run out and they end up standing in a corner awkwardly.
As for something like dealing with confrontations and fights… again, it also depends. ….the definition of justice is a bit skewed, is it not? Even if a person is doing something morally reprehensible, physical confrontation will just lead to slandered reputations or reparations.
Instead of trying to follow up with confronting that person, they have to give up at some point. No point in arguing with someone who can probably screw your life over, even if it is unfair to live life that way.
Going to large events and dealing with social problems just isn’t for them. The best they can be is outside of the city states probably moving at their own pace.
Extroverted introverts of the world unite in social awkwardness I think that I’d say Sage is rejection sensitive since she picks up when people think she’s annoying or overhears them I need to recreate that meme where it’s like REAL WINNERS QUIT because that’s the way to describe it Not put here: the times Rene has definitely been kicked out of Buscarron’s Druthers for starting bar fights while defending other Elezen Oops I accidentally went with philosophy for the second question since their actions would have more direct consequences
🖊
· Sage has hobbies outside of her work as an armorer where she attempts to draw and write. She’s sort of mediocre at both though.
She’s practically one of the only ones in the part timers who has a hobby outside of their expertise at work.
Well, her and Lily, but Lily’s small hobbies only come after she gets more integrated within the adventuring group. She’s working on learning how to become a weaver.
🍌 [BANANA] Have parts of your OC been lost to time (in-universe)? What do they wish they could lose from themselves?
·
Those whose stories have been completely lost to time (or entirely avoided)
Bon, the historian, displaced by happenstance and only really becoming active currently, who has no idea of what’s happening in his former home.
Rene, the one who’s constructed a false persona and essentially lives in it, refusing to go back to his old life.
Beet, who doesn’t know her parents have disappeared entirely due to circumstances out of her control and keeps sending letters home with no response.
Pepper, who could’ve been somebody, maybe even a hero like the ones Sage looks up to, but refuses to move forward in any way because he fears losing what little memories he has of his friend left.
🌌 If your OC has a nightmare, what’s it most likely about?
· From Rene: Back in that house. Back under those same rules. Back to being a powerless child and an unwanted child and- Well. I tend not to dream.
From Beet: What if I was buried under that rubble, and no one came for me after all that time? I think I would’ve been passed by…and. Well. I’m glad Rene pulled me out.
From Pepper: I’m standing there, and I’m still holding the blade that killed her. Everything is burning.
From Pen: I still dream about it! The place where I used to work at caught on fire during the calamity! I almost died!
From M’ari: When I held the twins for the first time, even if they tried to get out, I knew then and there that I couldn’t let anything happen to them. So my nightmare tend to involve what happens when I’m not there. Are they okay? In danger? Most of the times I end up calling just to hear them, even if they do end up annoyed by it!
From Sage: I’m standing there powerless as people die around me.
From Bon: My nightmare would be… I wouldn’t exist. I wouldn’t be there… but someone else would be. I guess that’s more of an existential crisis though, yes?
I never thought of a good one for Lily since she has nothing going on so hers would probably either be academically related like her deadlines or in relation to her selective muteness.
6♣️ - How do your muse’s “gut feelings” usually turn out?
Lily’s knowledge and most of her experiences come from books. So as for gut feelings, she’d try to be apply knowledge and logic, which doesn’t work in situations when she’s working with someone heavily emotional, like Sage. Speaking of Sage…
Sage is the kind of person who’s easily duped. Like, to the point it’s almost comical how badly how gullible she is about things, but when being raised by a man who had no need to lie about most things and constantly being visited by pirates (and why would pirates need to lie about anything?)… if she does figure out she’s been tricked or lied to she tends to get mad or make a scrunched up face. This also applies to her gut feelings which tend to be “this will be good!” Most of the time they are not good.
I think for the most part, Rene’s gut feelings tend to be correct, but that’s because he’s more pessimistic. Even if he tries to hide that from people. In a way, he’s definitely sort of shrewd, because even if he acts one way he feels an entirely different way.
As for the rest, M'ari’s gut feelings tend to be correct because he’s better at reading people due to having more experiences, Beet, Pen, and Bon all lean on the side of trusting their gut and ending up also ending up in the Sage scenario of “but my gut! it was wrong?!”. Pepper is an outlier who entirely trusts his gut feelings and is normally the most right about everything, but his problem is no one ever believes him.
8♦️ - Has your muse ever received money or gifts from a mysterious benefactor?
Well, for the most part, no. The closest thing that happened was when Pen got part of his debt erased, but that’s because of a massive power vacuum leading to a lot of commissions getting scrambled and… apparently one of the clients holding him in debt got killed? Well, that’s probably not the best way to handle problems, but now that he has more free time he doesn’t know what to do with himself.
Hey its vague MSQ acknowledgement which is rare because I usually apply the NPCverse with time bubble logic There was a brief moment where I did want to write Rene and Kan E Sena having some sort of boss employer friendship….but then I decided I didn’t want to have their stories be intertwined so I had him be rescued by a random hearer instead .For anyone wondering the “when” bit of PTX I have them placed in a time bubble a bit after the stormblood period because I haven’t covered haven't covered the First with them yet
📚 Your OC has to improvise a 10 minute lecture about a topic of their choosing. What do they chose?
·
Sage: Carbuncle theory! (She stole this from listening to Lily.) really, it’s just an excuse to talk about her Carbuncle.
Beet: Something on Alchemy, which slowly turns into a lecture on tea etiquette, of all things.
Lily: Aether theory (She has to come up with something else since Sage took her theory.).
M’ari: a ten minute lecture based on oceanic migration for fish in the areas utilized by ocean fishing, and which baits are proper to use in which area, which the longer he goes on suspiciously sounds like he’s trying to teach while simultanously selling on the idea on giving up your livelihood of being a pirate to go fishing. Not that he’d know anything like that.
Pepper: Voidsent! (But nothing too incriminating, which is why he cuts his speech off multiple times by not saying anything. It is very awkward .)
Rene: strangely enough, he starts lecturing on identify theft and lying, before hurriedly changing topics to talking about the best places to go to at the gold saucer. Weird.
Pen: Pen would stare you in the eyes and ramble on about historical knights, like those of the Sultansworn, of Ishgard, of fictional stories, of the passion and romance of the ideal of chivalry. It will be exactly ten minutes. It will feel longer than ten minutes.
Bon: His lecture would be entirely improvised, and it will have the opposite feeling of Pen’s lecture in which it feels like ten minutes and yet will be over in a minute. He speaks on the history of Allag, their experiments, their fall, and stuff that he definitely shouldn’t know about unless he was historically there, but that’s incredibly unlikely.
🪤 What is one thing that could be used to lure your OC into a trap?
·
You know those videos of cats like… falling for a tarp trap because there’s something inside of it? I don’t want to say that’s M’ari (he hates being compared to a cat, Sage doesn’t mind it), but if he saw really good fishing equipment he might just try to sneak it out and then get trapped that way.
Someone standing around looking emotionally vulnerable would get to a lot of the part timers to show up and try calming them down, whether that be a sad crying child or someone looking mad, which will probably either have them off guard or on guard but still regardless trying to solve the situation. Beet, Sage, Pen, and surprisingly enough, Pepper. He would probably only help out the crying kid though. Bon would also likely help out, but if he were by himself he wouldn’t as much because he’s still learning emotions.
Lily would fall for a book, or meeting some scholar, or something along those lines. Knowledge is too great of a desire for her to pass up sometimes.
Rene has zero desires at all times so the only effective trap would be one that takes him off guard if he’s not paying attention. Hole in the dirt. He’d fall like a cartoon.
5 from the oc asks!
5. Do they have a “tell” for when they’re lying?
Rene won’t look you in the eyes when he’s lying. Then again, he kind of hates eye contact in general since he usually has to look down… it would be a bit of a distant look. He might even turn around and be more dismissive.
Sage and M’ari’s tails both stand stiffly when they’re trying to lie. Sage hates lying, and M’ari has always taught her to be honest… she shouldn’t have any reason to lie then, unless it’s for a good reason.
Pepper doesn’t have a tell, which makes it hard to tell when he’s telling the truth or not. He’s the kind of person that’s always heavily exaggerating details to the point that things that are actually honest might be lies.
Beet will likely trip over her words while trying to lie. Pen wouldn’t lie at all, but he’d be a bit more expressive.
As for Lily… she still doesn’t really talk much. Lying to anyone within her group of people she talks to would be sort of pointless, wouldn’t it?
Would Bon have a tell? He’d probably say anything that comes to mind and say it with a straight face.
🥞 Does they take proper care of themselves, like getting enough sleep and eating properly?
·
I want to say that Pepper prior to meeting certain friends had a terrible time taking care of himself, forgetting to eat and sleep properly until he was gently nudged into taking better care of himself, mostly out of necessity. Can’t be a good mercenary if you’re in poor health all of the time. Sometimes he has to forgo eating out though since he usually spends money on supplies and armor for other people, so he’s learned to hunt for food (as long as it’s not in Gridania. He’d probably get an earful for not having the proper technique.)
Sage gets proper sleep and eats all her meals, as long as she doesn’t cook them because otherwise it comes out as inedible. That’s why she wanted to take culinarily classes but…
M’ari, who wakes up whenever he pleases, takes naps (don’t call them catnaps or he’ll get mad despite him making the most cat puns), and is basically only motivated by fishing (both to sell and eat the leftovers) in a bizarre turn of events managed to accidentally steal Sage’s night class slot, despite not knowing how to cook. He goes to the classes and eats well there, but he still never actually cooks anything decent.
Despite having an early schedule to wake up and a life centered on what was supposed to be a temporary job, Rene never properly sleeps, but that’s because he tends to either wake up in the middle of the night or he sleepwalks. Sometimes it’s a combination of both, and he’s managed to sometimes get a lot of distance from his house and quite literally wake up in the middle of the woods. It’s greatly inconvenient. Otherwise, he doesn’t go home at all, and ends up falling asleep in the barracks, in which case someone from his squadron might just put a blanket over him and hope he gets to rest well. Food wise no one’s ever really seen him eat…? He has a strange tendency of not eating with a crowd, or simply taking his food and saving it for later.
Pen suffers from the same problem that Pepper does in which he doesn’t sleep properly because he’s working on his goldsmith client commissions, and he doesn’t eat as well on work days because he either forgets or doesn’t have enough to pay, but his luck has gotten slightly better whenever other part timers happen to be in the area because they’ll pay for him.
Bon tends to stay consistent with the amount of sleep he gets and the amount of food he eats, and always stays constant. It’s a healthy life, but a boring one.
Beet also gets a proper amount of sleep, but also tends to oversleep, and tends to also sometimes wander at night if she’s feeling homesick, so it’s a toss up to how much she gets. Ever since coming to Eorzea, since she’s moved many places, she’s eaten many foods, but never tends to finish it because she starts thinking of her first home,
Lily is shaking off all of the poor habits she learned from her time in academics, like forgoing actual meals for snacks and staying up all night to finish work, but now it’s turned into an opposite effect where she sleeps in far too often!
14. What attributes do they have that are inherited from their parents or shared with their siblings/other relatives?
· Parents, huh… I haven’t really given that much thought.
Sage (mostly Sage) and Pepper both picked up M’ari’s art of being patient… which only lasts so long because they’re both short tempered.
As for M’ari, he sort of ran away from his family at an early age (which is like something that Pepper did when he ran away for a brief moment) , and he used to be a bit of a crybaby, but he hides that (just like Sage does.)
Pen has… zero traits from his mother. In fact, they’re pretty much opposites in personality as she’s a more chaotic scrupulous mage. The only thing they have in common is constantly being in debt.
(I’ll be honest, I’m drawing a total blank for Lily’s parents. I might just say she was sent to study abroad and she’s been gone longer than she’s known them. Books would be her parents in that case…)
Beet’s knowledge of alchemy came from lessons taught by her mother.
Bon never really had parents, so he hasn’t picked up any notable traits from them. He had a sister at one point, but when they both started adventuring in Eorzea she left him behind and they never really got along that much.
If there’s anything Rene remembers briefly about his younger brother and cousins, it was kindness. As for the rest of his family… learning indifference.
6. Do any of your OCs take their occupational title/role particularly unseriously?
·
Yes. Technically Rene does tend to slack off on especially slow days as a lieutenant, but when there’s not much to do he can’t bother working sometimes. The thing that probably tends to piss off people more is when he could solve other grand company problems simply by making people take him seriously by pulling rank, but he doesn’t.
“Too much of a hassle.” Aside from that, he doesn’t even wear the proper uniform…
