Today is more on the ideas side than actual fics. Since I discovered that two read mores is a thing, I can just combine the two things instead of having to split between posts like I'd have to do on a reupload.
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure (Shigekatsu Ihara)
An adaption of Diamond and later Platinum that features Hareta, a wild boy raised in the woods by Pokémon, Mitsumi, Professor Rowan’s assistant, and Hareta’s piplup as they go through the plot of Sinnoh. Hareta and Mitsumi are a traveling duo where Hareta gets into a lot of antics due to not having any social cues or fighting team galactic. Mitsumi is also a very skilled battler and considered a traitor to team galactic because she was raised as the ultimate fighting machine by Cyrus for galactic only to fail at destroying Rowan’s lab due to plot reasons. The manga lasted 8 volumes but 7 and 8 are elusive to find outside of an internet archive copy.
Pocket Monsters (Kosaku Anakubo)
The gag manga with the weird Clefairy that has crude jokes involving balls, incredibly off model mons in the early volumes, and managed to last into the galar games. This one was actually acknowledged in the anime during advanced generations as a movie Ash and Gary were watching as children. No intro on the humans except to mention that the red and green of this world have names that aren’t colors and that the Firered design of Red is considered a different character. It’s as weird as it sounds.
Clefairy- The first time the manga introduces this guy is by calling him “that jackass Clefairy” and I think that’s enough.
Pikachu- Every Pokémon in this world can talk except for red’s Pikachu. It can make all sorts of incredible inventions but it makes me wonder what it did to have its ability taken away.
How I became a Pokémon Card (Kagemaeu Himeno)
A manga that was made for tie ins to certain Pokémon cards and is episodic by chapter rather than having an overarching plot. Each chapter focuses on a different card and only a few of them have been fan translated.
Pokémon gold and silver: the golden boys (Muneo Saito)
A manga covering the plot of GS with crystal the character being introduced later. Features a time traveling Pikachu, an ex rocket Silver, and a legendary Tyranitar that was evil. Unfortunately cancelled but it was obvious the plot wanted to go all the way up to red.
Magical Pokémon Journey (Yumi Tsukirino)
Also known as Pipipi adventure, this one is less Pokémon focused as the rest and is more on the relationship of a girl named Hazel who has a crush on a boy named Almond who is a Pokémon trainer. Essentially more of a shoujo than the rest here which lean more towards kodomo manga, which is children's based.
Dengeki Pikachu
The anime adaption that covers parts of the og series up to the orange islands where it ends with ash and Gary going on a journey together. I don’t want to talk about anything else in regards to this.
Zensho (The True Story, Satomi Nakamura )
A game adaption that sticks to the plot of red and green. Notable for calling red “satoshi” and green “shigeru” like their anime counterparts. Also notable for having a nice Sabrina in this one unlike the other manga that happen to have her.
Phantom Thief Pokémon 7! (Miho Asada)
A one volume manga featuring average baker boy by day Hiori and phantom thief 7 at night with his Lucario. Also features the main character’s sister, Lily, as an aura wielding galactic member (unwillingly.) the main plot iirc had to deal with a team galactic OC admin wanting to use darkrai to put everyone into eternal sleep and the main character going “that’s stupid.”
Pokémon Special/ Adventures (Kusaka, Mato, Yamamoto)
The manga that chronicles plots inspired by the games and one of the things that inspired me to be both an artist and writer.
If I introduced every single dexholder I’d be here all day so I’ll mention them within the prompts themselves.
Mitsumi (DPA) and Blake (Pokespe)
Blake is the black 2 male protagonist in Special who is an international police member who went into aspierta city’s school in order to find a team plasma member who had connections to N. He also was raised by Interpol as a child after an incident that killed his parents and has a lack of emotions. I feel like making him have a genuine conversation with someone he's supposed to be possibly arresting would be an interesting plot.
There’s an international police member in DPA named Koya but he’s introduced during the platinum arc which makes it hard for me to describe him since I do no recall or well in comparison to the first 6 volumes.
I think this would be a story about conflicting values between the fact that both of them were essentially raised as child weapons but one was for the side of good (Blake in the international police) and the other for evil (Mitsumi and team galactic.)
Special * Special
Okay I know this is a weird concept but there’s an entire subset of later dexholders who have never interacted with each other and I’d want to see a big dexholder meeting, like the DPPT guys haven’t met any of the seniors! Black getting to fight the kanto champion and then Casey (Sword) fighting too! I guess a huge tournament would work but that’s less interaction and more fighting.
Hiori (PTP7) and Blue (Special)
I refer to Blue and Green based on the JP names (with some exceptions) so Blue is the girl.
Two people who both became thieves for the sake of their siblings also bring up comparisons of their interactions with the Pokémon darkrai. I’d mention the sequel to Pokemon 7 but I don’t think it’s actually been published nowhere so it’s completely lost to time.
Dengeki Pikachu * Journeys
Crossing over an anime adaption with any version of the anime would lead to a lot of easy to make comparisons but I picked the journeys anime in particular because of comparing the two versions of Ash. This is one that just finished up the orange islands and started journeying with Gary versus one with tons of experience. Of course they’d get along, but how would one Ash feel about the other like looking into a mirror of your younger self? Would Goh start getting teased by this Gary too or would it be different because he knows more about the guy? The Dengeki Ash never released his Charizard to the valley but knows he’s dangerous because of the incident during the tournament, would the journeys ash convince him to keep Charizard around?
Games X Special
I’ve always wondered what an interaction between games and special would go especially in terms of how radically different plots and characters are. How would red and red get along? Would leaf and blue see each other as direct counterparts? Special Silver meeting Pre games silver or even mid game Silver… Yellow dealing with a Lance who’s relatively chill (as long as the hyper beam rocket incident isn’t mentioned). Honestly the best solution would be just dumping everyone in Pokemon Masters and having a comparison to comparison but that just runs being redundant with the special X special tournament.
MPJ * Pocket Monsters
My main focus for these two is the fact that they both have talking Clefairy with radically different demeanors and a non talking Pikachu. Is that a universal constant?
Maybe the pocket monsters Red could have a nice non chaotic day while his Pokémon plus Almond’s create a new brand of chaos.
Zensho * The Golden Boys
Let’s give it up for a red fight since golden boys never got its conclusion here and have Gold fight red and I like having inter canon continuity and Zensho’s the closest game to Gen 1 adaptation in the lineup and crossing over with Spe is redundant.
HIBAPC * Games* Other Manga
Let’s talk about rainbow rocket!
I feel like they’d be pretty useful for crossover concepts between mediums, huh. Like, you could easily just round up any manga OC villain or anime OC villain or any team from any medium and dump them into rainbow rocket for fighting.
HIBAPC features a few team rocket OCs so if they ever needed a follow up of new grunts and admins they could just use those. The two I know of in particular are the one with the dark charmeleon and the evil eevelution users.
HIBAPC* Pocket Card GB
I failed to mention that there was a manga based on the gameboy game that was out for the TCG at the time. I've always wondered what it was like for merchandise in the pokemon world like, does it exist on the same level as IRL? That's not really a crossover prompt as much as me speculating though.
I enjoy reading Pokémon manga maybe a bit too much, and then my brain started thinking of character interactions between mangas. But a lot of them are kinda hard to find outside of special/adventures ever since the site I used to use got taken down. My concepts for crosssovers are less on plot and more on “how would they interact? Why pair these in particular?”
To alleviate this issue, I’ll be giving a brief summary of the mangas that are focused on in this segment and key characters. Some spoilers apply.
If you know pokemon manga, then you can skip this part over. If you don't, the glossary is here to introduce some of them.
