Pokemon Timeline Disscussion 1

I have serious bedtime procrasination problems. Anyways, here's my attempt at figuring out the pokemon timeline based on my own personal takes and the most agreed upon takes. Mega Timeline, Non Mega Timeline, I'm talking about Console timelines here.

Timeline A

Gameboy Timeline
  • 1996: Events of RGBY Happen in GB timeline.
  • 3 years pass.
  • 1999: GSC happens.
  • GB Timeline ends abruptly because of a lack of cross combability. Lack of continuation leads to weird problems until a connection through virtual console.
  • Pretty clear, little room for debate.

Timeline A Variant (3rd version games)

  • Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum (Keep in mind the dates for timeline B below.)
  • USUM would be here but due to the fact it's the one that is "definitive" this is where SM goes.

Timeline B (GBA DS Era)

GBA-DS Universe

The 1996 thing can't apply due to the existence of the gamecube in RSE which means that either 1. Technology in Kanto is seriously lagging behind or 2. RSE and FRLG weren't meant to be taking place simultaneously and the timeline thing has been too overanalyzed. I'm going with an even more weird option and saying every game takes place in it's release date period.
  • RSE in 2002-2003
  • FRLG in 2003-2004
  • DPPt in 2006
  • HGSS in 2006-2007
  • BW in 2010-2011
  • B2W2 in 2012-2013
  • FRLG and HGSS have a 3 year gap like their originals. If the game console factor is taken seriously, then Gen 4 cannot take place before 2006 due to the presence of the Wii.
  • The existence of the Rocket child from that guy from HGSS to BW implies that there was a larger time gap that is not canon anymore possibly. Either that or it's one fast growing baby
Is smash bros considered canon or
what.
no.

Timeline D (3DS Era, Current)

3DS Universe
  • Let’s Go in 2009
  • XY in 2012-2013
  • ORAS in 2002-2014 (Just say 2010)
  • USUM in 2015-2017
  • ORAS is all over the place with timespan references to RS's release year (11-12 years) and one direct reference to a younger Archie in 2002 while also referring that Emerald, BW, and XY have yet to happen.
  • SM and RG also have a timespan reference (20 years, but Red and Green are not 30+ years old). USUM has a Switch in the player's room, potentially making it 2017.
  • I’d say let’s go is 2009 but only because of the factor of Mina being there in a younger version but before she becomes captain and the latest age a captain can be before retiring is 18, but also mega evolution existing which continues to make Kalos fraudulent by saying that it's the only reigon where Megas exist
  • Ignore the fact that the LGPE protag has a switch in their room and the fact that Red and Green are simultaneously not the champions and the events of Kanto have not occured. Masters shoves all of that under the rug just by saying "oh yeah all the adventures took place simultaneously, don't think about it."
  • I think Kalos is still the origin and Rayquaza is a freakish exception to the rule

Later Switch Games take place... they certainly do!
